What is Halloween
Halloween is celebrated on Oct. 31. According to the Celtic calendar, this is the last day of the year. Everyone finished harvesting and it was celebrated on this night with campfires. To send away evil spirits, faces were carved into pumpkins and a candle placed in them. Halloween became popular in the U.S. after large groups from Ireland and Scotland immigrated there. Traditions have changed a bit and it has become primarily a children's festival. Children go around the doors dressed up and shout "Trick or Treat. This means a prank or something sweet. Most people then give a candy so they are not pranked.
